The Dewalt DW718 has a lot of new features that have been designed to give this well loved tool durability and ample power. It is fitted with a powerful 15 amp motor which gives it the capability to do a superb 3,600 rpm (revolutions per minute). The bevel stops at four stages in both directions. That means one can have the stops from 0, 22.5, 33.9, and at 45 degrees in two directions. Then take a look at the dual horizontal steel rails, this is another wonderful design which uses the clamping mechanism and linear ball bearings. This tool is heavy duty and its total weight is 53 pounds but it has carrying handles which makes it easy to move it around.
Using its very accurate miter system the Dewalt DW718 is able to make very clean cut tight corners. To further increase the cutting accuracy the machine has a base fence support to help align the material. Unlike most miter saws the DW718 actually has 0-48 degree bevels for further cutting capacity. When absolute precision and repeatable cuts are required the machines steel dent plate has 10 adjustable positive stops. The four position bevel stops which go in both directions makes it very easy and fast to flip the saw instead of whatever you are working on. It does 60 degrees to the left side and another 50 degrees to the right side. These extra angles is what gives this miter saw a distinct advantage over other miter saws.
The Dewalt DW 718 uses a miter cam lock operation that makes it very easy for one to handle accurate miter table positioning. It has a horizontal lever which is extremely friendly to the hands and its tall sliding fence is used to support the base molding of up to 6 ½ inches and a crown molding of up to 6 5/8 inches; it held vertically on the fence as it easily glides out of the way to facilitate the bevel cuts to be made. Its arbor is the size of 5/8 inches.
