Tape measures and rulers have similar features.  Both can provide a precise measurement when needed and both have at least twelve inches or longer numeric marking.  Most people are not aware of the different kinds of tape measures out there.   It consists of a ribbon of cloth, plastic, fiber glass, or metal strip with linear-measurement markings. It is a common measuring tool. Its versatility allows for a measure of great length to be easily carried in pocket or toolkit and allows one to measure around curves or corners.  There are different kinds of tape measures used in a number of different kinds of professions.

 

Everyone figured out how to read a ruler or a tape measure at a very young age.  Teachers and professors use measuring tapes on a regular basis. Professors teaching Interior Design courses, teach students the proper method of measurements with a scale, ruler and templates. Elementary through high school teachers heavily rely on this device, they use to make straight lines while teaching young students how to write their alphabets. High school teachers teaching algebra or other mathematic classes may use it to draw a perfect square, rectangle or triangle.

 

Trainers and nutritionists use cloth or fiberglass tape measure to measure the fat content of their client’s body.  They measure their client’s waist, hips, calf, ankle, and arm then calculate the body fat of their client. The medical and health profession often use measuring tapes at work. Pediatricians use tape measures to measure the grown of a baby. Carpenters and construction workers also use a tape measure. The tape measures utilized in this capacity are generally stiff, yet somewhat flexible, and are made of a metallic ribbon that is slightly curved on its sides. It is capable of remaining stiff and straight when properly extended. On top of that, they can retract and coil up when not in use. These tape measures have a tang at the end which enables them to be hooked onto the object being measured as the user walks to the opposite end of the object. This kind of tape measures are often found and purchased in your local hardware store.
