Consider (or ask the dealer) whether or not a given fixture or collection is fashionable or traditional. Trendy fixtures are often awfully angular or ultra-streamlined plus match well with modern, high-tech and minimalist environments. Traditional fixtures often have added embellishment that reflect classic styling. They go best with country, antique, colonial plus similar environments.

Notice the embellishments: Fashionable items might have a geometrical or swirl design; traditional items could have fluting or flower designs.

Look at the tub. A bathtub with claw feet or an elongated pedestal base is classic in design, as are nearly all sunken marble or Roman-design tubs. A curvy whirlpool or rectangular tub along with a square-tile surround fits better in an exceedingly more modern environment.

A streamlined pedestal sink or 1 which shows off the plumbing below provides a modern, high-tech look. Marble plus marble-appearance sinks (especially those that hint at seashell shapes) are more traditional, as are several vanity-sink combinations and sinks with embellished pedestals.

Check out the shower doors. They are often plain glass; frosted or beaded; or stained glass created in Arts plus Crafts, Victorian, or another style.

Wall-mounted and low-profile toilets fit well in trendy interiors. Taller and antique-style models, with oak seats plus tanks that mount high on the wall, offer a normal look.

Go with plain styles plus neutral colours if you like to modify your decor frequently or have eclectic tastes. An excellent combination: a basic porcelain-over-cast-iron bathtub, a porcelain toilet and a porcelain or cast marble sink.

Choose bathroom faucets plus a showerhead which complement the fixtures. Porcelain-brass combos are sometimes traditional, whereas gooseneck plus waterfall faucets look modern. Basic taps – even chrome-brass mixtures – work nicely in neutral toilet schemes.

Remember that bathroom colors may date quickly. Many people go with white, whether or not their design is traditional or modern.  It is a safe choice for every decor.

Select towel bars, hooks, medicine cabinets, cabinet hardware and other metal fixtures that coordinate with your faucet sets.If you are building or remodeling plus plan to keep within your home a long time, consider making the restroom fully useful for a person with physical disabilities, ranging from arthritis to paralysis. Accessible bathrooms can be great looking; they simply require further planning.
